Morris Hospital, founded in 1906 by four physicians in Morris, is an eighty-two-bed acute care facility in Morris IL (Grundy County) and the only hospital in the county. In 2001 the hospital undertook a building and modernization project to construct 20,000 sq. ft. of family birthing suites, enhance intensive care and modernize their surgical patient rooms. The hospital moved to in 1910 to it’s current location on an eight acres and occupies 135,079 square feet. The hospital manages seven family health centers and has an affiliated Illinois not-for-profit foundation that operates an ongoing fundraising program. In 1999, the hospital entered into a Joint Operating Agreement with the Provena St. Joseph Hospital that allows the two hospitals to work collaboratively, but maintain each organizations unique identity. The total project was $7,500,000 and retained 474 jobs.
