History

The Upper Illinois River Valley Development Authority (UIRVDA) was created by an act of the Illinois legislature and signed into law by Public Act 86-1024 on January 1, 1990. The bill was sponsored by Senator Jerry Joyce and Representative Richard A. Mautino. The Authority is an eighteen member body of which ten members are appointed by the Governor with consent of the Senate.

The Director of the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs and the Director of the Department of Central Management Services both serve as ex officio members. Six members are appointed, one each by the county board chairman of Bureau, Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, Marshall and Putnam.
