GRNE Solar is developing of a 2MW solar array that will produce electrical power on behalf of the Fox Metro Water Reclamation District who will be the exclusive buyer. This solar project is a behind the meter project dedicated to offset the electrical costs for Fox Metro Water Reclamation District. The project will directly offset electrical needs at the facilities onsite. GRNE Solar will construct and maintain the solar array, owning the equipment under a 25-year lease. Construction of the solar facility will be a $2,600,000 investment.
The project will create 25-30 construction jobs and 2-3 permanent jobs for oversight and maintenance of the project during its lifecycle. This project was awarded by the Illinois Power Agency and is consistent with the Governor’s goals of supplying 25% of Illinois energy production
by 2025 with renewable energy. The savings from the sales tax exemptions will result in lower project costs that will benefit water reclamation district and taxpayers in the form of lower water treatment rates.
Project added to the Zone in 2020.
