Gemini Acres LLC is a real estate holding company that owns and leases property to the A&R Companies which consists of a group of family owned transportation profit centers. The total property owned by Gemini encompasses 1,085 acres. A&R Transportation, Inc. provides bulk transportation of the petrochemical industry; A&R Packaging and Distribution Services, Inc. provides treasury management and IS services; A&R Intermodal, Inc. provides internal and external distribution assets; Alliance Logistics, Inc. provides logistics and transportation services to major petrochemical industries; and Frontier Logistics, Inc. provides logistics services to Mexico and Latin America.
The Company had a 12,000 square foot facility in Channahon near Morris, IL (Grundy County) and a terminal exchange in Joliet, IL. The project was the construction of an intermodal transportation terminal exchange with 28,000 feet of rail, the construction of 300,0000 square foot warehouse for bagging, boxing and bulk loading, a rail car wash, a 26,000 square foot maintenance building, distribution facility equipment, etc. on 65 acres.
On April 1, 1998, bonds were issued in the amount of $22,700,000 to help create 100 full-time jobs. In 2014, UIRVDA worked with Gemini to sell the warehouse and assume the lease to CenterPoint Properties, Inc. a large real estate firm that owns 325 buildings containing 58 million square feet. UIRVDA facilitated the addition of CenterPoint as an additional guarantor of the bond over the existing collateral and guarantees.
The Project closed in 2000.
