Maze Nails started in 1848 as a lumber company founded by Samuel N. Maze. When he got rust complaints from his customers and serious nail failures due to inferior nails from his wholesalers, he decided to buy a small nail machine and make his own nails out of pure zinc. The Company is a large user of natural gas in their production of zinc nails used in roofing. In an Enterprise Zone, companies that buy natural gas from a third-party supplier are exempt from a state natural gas. The project helped retain 100 full-time jobs.
