SolAmerica Energy is constructing a 2 MW solar array to produce electric power on 93.65 acres in Marengo IL (McHenry County) and a 2 MW solar array to produce electric power on 126.06 acres near Huntley, IL (McHenry County). The Marengo project is a capital investment in the amount of $7,295,361 to create 5 full-time jobs. The Huntley project is a capital investment in the amount of $5,953,660 to create 5 full-time jobs. The projects are “community solar” projects that allow households that can’t construct their own solar projects to participate in utilizing renewable solar energy for their own household. The projects were approved by the Illinois Power Agency and contribute to the State’s goal of achieving 25% of electrical generation from renewable resources by 2025.
